Robert Mames, MD

Michael W. Hines, MD

Dr. Mames specializes in vitreoretinal surgery, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, vascular occlusion management, and retinal imaging. He graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School and then trained in Internal Medicine at the Michael Reese Medical Center of Chicago. He completed his retina fellowship in Boston at The New England Eye Center. He previously served as an assistant professor at the University of Florida, where he co-directed the Retina Service. Dr. Mames is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and The  Retina Society. He founded The Retina Center and has been its Director since its inception in 1993. He has authored or co-authored numerous scientific papers and has given talks nationally and internationally. 

Dr. Hines specializes in vitreoretinal surgery, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinal vascular occlusion management. He graduated from the University of Texas at Houston Medical School and completed his retina fellowship at Texas Retina Associates.

He has published numerous scientific papers and lectured nationally. He has been practicing exclusively at The Retina Center since 1997.  Dr. Hines is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists.
