Dr. Mames and Dr. Hines are licensed physicians and surgeons,
Board Certified as Diplomates of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Mames is an affiliate professor at the University of Florida.
Both physicians have authored and edited numerous scientific articles,
journals, chapters and textbooks of ophthalmology.
They have also presented at invited lectureships nationwide.
Dr. Robert N. Mames M.D.
Dr. Mames graduated from
the University of Michigan Medical School and then trained in Internal
Medicine at the Michael Reese Medical Center of Chicago, IL.
Afterward, Dr. Mames completed his ophthalmology residency at
the Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, MI.
followed by a fellowship in vitreoretinal
diseases at the New England Eye Center of Boston, MA.
Dr. Mames was then a full-time assistant professor of ophthalmology at
the University of Florida, co-directing the retina and vitreous section,
where he served for more than three years.
Dr. Michael W. Hines M.D.
Dr. Hines graduated from the University of Texas at Houston Medical School.
Afterwards, Dr. Hines completed his ophtalmology residency at the
University of Florida in Gainesville followed by a retina residency
at Texas Retina Associates in Dallas, TX.
Since 1988, he has been in private practice, exclusively practicing
the retina-vitreous subspecialty in Houston, TX (Vitreoretinal Consultants).
